God Grants Entertainment Weekly an Interview About His Book

Recently Simon & Schuster brokered a deal to release a book written by God. Now, with a little help from The Daily Show executive producer David Javerbaum, God has granted Entertainment Weekly‘s Shelf-Life blog an interview.

There, God revealed some details about His forthcoming book. He explained: “My topics shall include: The secret history of Adam and Steve; what it was like working with Moses, St. Peter, Mohammed, and other legends of the field; which sports teams I truly root for (hint: Go Blue Jackets!); and, because I can see everyone at all times, I will have much to offer by way of celebrity gossip. It will be in a section that I will call ‘God-sip!’ ‘Getteth it?’”

The author cited “Aesop, The Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen, and James Frey” as his influences. The currently untitled book will be attached to the Twitter feed, The Tweet of God. Followers should expect a late 2011 release.

Simon & Schuster Cuts ‘Book Deal with God’

In a tongue-in-cheek press release today, Simon & Schuster announced they have sealed a book deal with God. The currently untitled book will be attached to the Twitter feed, The Tweet of God. Publisher Jonathan Karp had this quote: “We are pleased and honored to add the Lord Almighty to our list of notable authors.”

According to the release, the deal was negotiated by the Levine Greenberg Literary Agency. The release also hints that The Daily Show with Jon Stewart writer David Javerbaum will work on the project. The book is scheduled for a late 2011 release.

The complete press release is embedded below, but here’s a quote from senior editor Sarah Knight: [God] very much wants His words to be clearly understood, as opposed to ‘interpreted,’ which has gotten people into trouble in the past. To that end He will be abandoning his familiar ‘thee and thou’ format for a folksier, ‘thee and you’ approach that I and everyone in marketing believe will highlight his omniscience without making him seem like a know-it-all.”
