Authors Signing eReaders Instead of Books

Would you let your favorite author sign your Kindle, Nook, or iPad? A new generation of readers have adapted to a new kind of autographing.

eBookNewser wrote about a Kindle owner who has collected autographs from Gary Vaynerchuk, Jim Kukral, and Steve Garfield on the back of his Kindle. You can see Kindle scribbles on the photo above, via Flickr.

The post offered this advice for autographing eReaders: “The signatures are on the back of his K2, which might be a problem. The K2′s back is polished metal, so I don’t think it will take much to wipe it clean … I plan to collect signatures on the cover, not the device. The cover should last longer, and after the ereader died I still display the cover on my bookshelf.”

Gary Vaynerchuk’s Airport Bookstore Tour

about-gary-pic.jpgThis morning author and social media guru Gary Vaynerchuk launched a two-day mini-book tour, visiting the most under-appreciated book stores on earth–signing books at six airport bookstores.

The author will stop by Hudson Booksellers around the country between November 2nd and 3rd in a madcap race between airports, promoting his new book, “Crush It!” His book focuses on how people can use social networking resources in the business world, and he’s taking his message straight to the airports where business travelers congregate.

Here’s more about the tour, from the Facebook schedule: “As the number one airport bookseller, Hudson Booksellers has the unique capacity to directly reach more business travelers than any other retailer. This tour, its accompanying displays, and an exclusive contest are designed to connect Mr. Vaynerchuk with fans and Hudson customers that could benefit from his message…Gary will be signing at LGA, ORD, DFW, DEN, LAX, and EWR.”

Gary Vaynerchuk’s Literary Wine Tasting

9780374531546.jpgAuthor and Wine Library TV host Gary Vaynerchuk has started pairing wines and books in a literary drinking lesson.

Over at The Daily Beast, Vaynerchuk delivers a short review of Michael Idov‘s novel, “Ground Up,” picking the best wine to drink while reading the book. His book review and pairing will help even the most unskilled GalleyCat editor buy a literary bottle of wine–excellent intelligence for your next book party.

Here’s the first tasty pairing, from Book Beast: “The 2005 Monti Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is a real wine with a sense of place. It delivers the charm of a bright Italian red wine and also offers up a subtle coffee-bean flavor that, if only briefly, catapults me right into a neighborhood coffee shop just like Cafe Kolschitzky. But like the couple in Ground Up, it is also part Old World and part New World.”
