3 WordPress Tools To Put Your Book in Browsers

In a Tools of Change presentation yesterday, Oxford Media Works principal Kirk Biglione introduced a number of tools that publishers and writers can use to put a book online with WordPress–publishing your book in a browser.

UPDATE: Follow this link to see slides from the full presentation. As Apple and Amazon battle for control of apps, this option may become more attractive to indie creators. In addition, these tools will help your work find a home on the Internet and create a searchable online product.

1.  Bibliotype: A simple template system created by Craig Mod, helping convert long texts into easy reading HTML for tablet computers.

2. WptouchPro: A plug-in that will “deliver a mobile + iPad version of your website in a few clicks, with the feel of a native mobile app.”

3. Directory Plug-in: “an easy way to host a free directory page,” ideal for catalogs, customer lists, or other online directories connected to your book.

Earlier in his career, Linn was CEO and owner of Consortium Book Sales and Distribution. At Quartet, he will oversee finance, administration and general management at the digtial press. Quartet is already seeking submissions for the fall.

The fledgling publisher Quartet Press is now accepting submissions for the debut launch of the digital imprint entitled, “Quench!”

The digital publisher was founded by Kassia Krozser of Booksquare.com; Kirk Biglione of Medialoper.com; book marketer Kat Meyer; and a silent partner. Submission guidelines can be found here. As TeleRead notes, the new books will be DRM-free, allowing writers to share books across platforms.

Here’s more from the release: “Quartet Press is currently accepting queries for all genres of romance fiction, including erotic romance. We will also consider other genre fiction, provided the story contains a strong romantic plot thread. At this time, we are particularly interested in queries for erotic romance and romantic suspense … Trends come and go, but good novels live forever. Focus on storytelling, character development, and solid plotting. We’re interested in books that keep our readers up past their bedtime.”
