The Colbert Report host Stephen Colbert plans to launch “cOlbert’s Book Club.”

For the first installment of this humorous “rip off” of Oprah Winfrey‘s book club, Colbert plans to discuss The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Oprah Winfrey and Frank Sinatra biographer Kitty Kelley has landed a book deal to write about the women of the U.S. Senate. Publication has been set for Spring 2016.

The book will look at the 113th Congress, but focus on the “divinely diverse and one-fifth female” U.S. Senate. WSK Management CEO Wayne Kabak negotiated the deal with publisher Jamie Raab. Raab will also edit the book.

Kelley explained in the release: “As a woman who cheers the accomplishments of other women on both sides of the aisle, I come to this project with a positive bias, and I am eager to learn if the combined talents and collegiality of women will make a difference in the way our laws are made and the country’s business is conducted. More importantly, through in-depth reporting I will try to answer the question that so many are asking: can the presence of women break the ugly gridlock now choking Congress?”

Winfrey explained her choice: “The opening pages of Ayana’s debut took my breath away … I can’t remember when I read anything that moved me in quite this way, besides the work of Toni Morrison.”

Winfrey will release an Oprah’s Book Club 2.0 edition of the book. She will interview Mathis on Sunday, February 3 at 11 a.m. ET/PT on OWN’s “Super Soul Sunday,” but the episode will air on Oprah.com and OWN’s Facebook page and on Oprah Radio’s “Oprah’s Soul Series” on Sirius radio.

In the past 24 hours, “f-bomb,” “sexting” and “man cave” were among the most frequently looked up words on the dictionary’s website. Some of these words have been circulating within the English-speaking population for decades.

The Daily Beast reported the earliest citation for “aha moment” came from a 1939 psychology text. The phrase’s popularity was propelled by Oprah Winfrey and her talk show.

Oprah Winfrey has relaunched her book club, celebrating Wild by Cheryl Strayed in a video (embedded above) about “Book Club 2.0.” Her announcement has already earned 16,000 “likes” on Facebook.

The New York Times broke the news last week with a Winfrey video and story. “I was reading this book. As a real book. Holding up the book. I was on the edge of my seat reading the book and I was like, ‘Where is The Oprah Winfrey Show when you need to announce and tell everybody about this book? I need the book club.’ So I created Book Club 2.0 for this book, Wild by Cheryl Strayed!” cheered Winfrey, waving the book in a video presentation.

The new club will feature social media components, annotated eBooks and be tied in with Winfrey’s cable station.

Oprah Winfrey selected Mitchard’s 1996 novel, The Deep End of the Ocean, as the first title to kick off her famous Book Club. Mitchard has written both fiction and nonfiction, publishing books for adult, young adult and children’s readers.

Mitchard gave this statement in the release: “I’d wanted to be an editor for years, but didn’t see myself in a huge box in Manhattan. F+W made me an offer I couldn’t refuse: the chance to work with new authors and established authors on something so important. It’s exactly where I want to be at this point in my career. Female Force: Madonna is the illustrated story of the star’s life as written by CW Cooke and drawn by Michael Johnson. The book tells the story of how a struggling dancer in New York became one of the biggest pop stars in history. The book also highlights Madonna’s influence on other artists. “Most pop stars owe everything to this woman. It’s amazing all of the things that she’s done in her lifetime, and I have a feeling that this is still only the beginning,” stated Cooke.

Filmmaker Mary McDonagh Murphy has created a new documentary about celebrated author Harper Lee entitled Hey, Boo: Harper Lee and To Kill a Mockingbird.

According to Shelf Awareness, the film will feature interviews with Anna Quindlen, Tom Brokaw, James McBride, James Patterson, Wally Lamb, and Oprah Winfrey. Some of those celebrities can be seen in the trailer embedded above.

Initially, the film will have a limited release in New York City and Los Angeles starting May 13th with a nationwide release to follow. Last year, Murphy published Scout, Atticus, and Boo: A Celebration of Fifty Years of To Kill a Mockingbird for the book’s 50th anniversary.

Oprah Winfrey picked a classic double header for her latest book club selection, choosing Charles Dickens‘ Great Expectations and A Tale of Two Cities.

During her announcement, Winfrey noted: “I’m going old, old school … Normally I only choose books that I have read, but I must shamefully admit to you all that I have never read Dickens.”

Winfrey will use Penguin’s new $20 paperback containing both books and nearly 800 pages. Amazon noted yesterday they have free Kindle editions of both titles. Penguin offers a $7.99 digital edition that includes illustrations, author background, and historical information.

“I think 10 years is a long time to spend with one character,” said Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe, making it clear he would probably not play the wizard if J.K. Rowling published more books.

During her Oprah Winfrey interview earlier this year, Rowling surprised  Harry Potter fans when she noted: “I definitely could write an eighth, ninth, tenth book. I could, easily.” In the video embedded above from 2009, Radcliffe and cast mate Rupert Grint talked about the film.

More recently, Radcliffe reacted with surprise at Rowling’s revelation. He told Sky News: “Oh God, she promised me categorically that there wouldn’t be another book involving Harry … I think 10 years is a long time to spend with one character.”
