‘Twilight: The Graphic Novel’ Volume 2 to Be Released in the Fall

Yen Press will release the second volume of Twilight: The Graphic Novel in October. 

Both the ebook and hardcover format will sell for $19.99. The publisher has ordered 350,000 copies for the first printing.

Young Kim illustrated both volumes. Volume one featured chapters one through thirteen of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight. Comicsbeat.com reported that the first volume sold 66,000 copies during in one week.

Jennifer Lawrence To Play Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games Adaptation

Winter’s Bone actress Jennifer Lawrence will play Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games film adaptation. As of this writing, fans have left more than 380 comments on Facebook, many protesting the choice.

We’ve included some of the comments below. Some complain that Lawrence (pictured, via) is too “old” because she is 20-years-old. In the first book, Katniss is 16. Others find fault with her appearance; Lawrence has blond hair, milky-colored skin, and blue eyes. Author Suzanne Collins describes Katniss as being a brunette with an olive complexion and gray eyes.

Robert Pattinson, who plays Edward Cullen in The Twilight Saga, has said in past interviews that his hiring was met with initial fan protest. These days, Pattinson enjoys great popularity and has even gotten mobbed during outdoor movie shoots. What do you think?

Water for Elephants Trailer Released on Amazon

Last week Amazon exclusively released a long Water for Elephants film trailer. We’ve embedded the trailer above.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon has only aired full-length trailers for one other movie: The Dark Knight. The film will hit theaters on April 22nd.

Sara Gruen wrote Flying Changes and Water for Elephants as National Novel Writing Month projects. Here’s an excerpt from an inspirational letter she wrote to NaNoWriMo writers: “I can do this. WE can do this. However far behind you are, take comfort in knowing that there is somebody else out there in the same boat, and look for that next fun scene. And then the next. Last year the Twilight Saga: New Moon received three nominations, but no wins. Yesterday, it was revealed that four out of ten Best Picture Oscar nominees are book-based-movies.

Breaking Dawn Movie Photo Released

Entertainment Weekly released a still photo from the film set of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1. The picture depicts a honeymoon scene shared between the two main protagonists, Edward Cullen and Bella Swan.

The photo has already earned more than 1,800 “likes” on Facebook. The video embedded above shows actor Robert Pattinson reacting to the magazine while speaking with an MTV News reporter.

The magazine also included a gallery of 18 other movie set photos shot at the Rio de Janeiro location. Director Bill Condon tweeted a racy photo back in November.

Robert Pattinson to Star in David Cronenberg Adaptation of Don DeLillo Novel

cosmo.jpgIn a fascinating casting choice, Twilight heartthrob Robert Pattinson will star in an upcoming adaptation–leaping from Stephenie Meyer to Don DeLillo in a single bound.

Critically-acclaimed director David Cronenberg will be adapting DeLillo’s Cosmopolis, and the cast is still being sorted out. The 2003 novel studying one eventful day in the life of a young New York City millionaire.

Here’s more from Deadline New York: “Marion Cotillard and Paul Giamatti are also reportedly doing the film, but those same reports had Colin Farrell poised to take the lead role … Pattinson is following a path based on strong filmmakers and tasteful source material. He took the role because he is a big fan of Cronenberg’s work and an admirer of DeLillo’s books.”

Twilight Saga star Robert Pattinson plays the lead role, Jacob Jankowski, along side Oscar winners, Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz. Richard LaGravenese adapted the novel.

Gruen’s novel became an unexpected hit in 2006. The author originally conceived the idea as a project for National Novel Writing Month. Following her success, Gruen secured a $5 million 2-book deal with Random House imprint, Spiegel & Grau.

A melodramatic trailer for the upcoming adaptation of Stephenie Meyer‘s The Twilight Saga: Eclipse surfaced today, giving publishing folk something to argue about all weekend. The movie comes out June 30.

Twilight Sweeps Teen Choice Awards

twilightminicover.jpgThe adaptation of Stephenie Meyer‘s “Twilight” nabbed nine prizes at the Teen Choice Awards, promising more book sales for the bestselling series.

According to Hollywood Reporter, the film earned best drama, actor, actress, villain, and five other awards–bringing home surfboard-shaped prizes in a media event hosted by the Jonas Brothers. The adaptation of “New Moon,” the sequel to “Twilight,” will arrive in theaters in November, undoubtedly extending Meyer’s bestselling streak.
