Jessica Lange Lands Picture Book Deal

Academy Award-winning actress Jessica Lange has inked a deal with Sourcebooks’ Jabberwocky imprint.

Her picture book, It Is About a Bird, will hit bookstores in fall 2013. The book itself will contain photographs taken and hand-colored by Lange, inspired by a story she told her grandchildren. Here’s more from the release:

It’s the charming, delightful story about two sisters, Ilse and Adah, and their grandmother, Mem, who lives on a quaint, rambling small farm.  During the visit to the farm, the sisters sneak into the ramshackle barn they’re normally forbidden to play in, and stumble on all kinds of strange and fascinating treasures, including an antique birdcage. The discovery prompts Mem to reminisce, and to tell her granddaughters about time she spent in Paris and Rome as a young woman, where she adopted a pet canary named Uccellino—Italian for ‘little bird’—that she brought back with her to the United States.

One Day Left To Send In Your Cat Photos!

lolgalleycats-bookbag.jpg

Just a quick reminder that you should email us your cat photos (and tell us something about the cat!) by, oh, 6 p.m. (Eastern) Wednesday, because I’ve got to get all the posts scheduled in advance before I go away for the weekend

As an extra incentive, I can now announce that, once all the pics have been published, GalleyCat readers will be able to vote on their favorite, and that cat’s owner will receive a copy of An Infamous Army, the classic historical romance novel by Georgette Heyer recommended to NPR listeners by Nancy Pearl, along with two other Heyer novels of the winner’s choice, from an assortment of the titles Sourcebooks has brought back into print.
