Order a Painting of Your Ideal Bookshelf

You can now immortalize your favorite books in a painting.

Artist Jane Mount and author Thessaly La Force published My Ideal Bookshelf in 2012, giving readers a painted peek into the bookshelves of different cultural figures. Mount will also paint your bookshelf. The site offers three pricing options:

The first is a custom original PAINTING (see the options below) that Jane Mount makes by hand just for you, in gouache (an opaque watercolor paint) and ink on Fabriano paper. You can choose how many books to include and what size you’d like it to be, and then send us photos of any books we don’t already have. They start at $290 + shipping and take 6-8 weeks. The second is a custom PRINT. You pick up to 10 books from our list, and then Jane arranges them (from images she has already painted) to create a single archival print in an edition of 1 on Canson Arches paper, just for you. These start at $150 + shipping and take 2-4 weeks. Finally, you can choose to have Jane paint just one book, your favorite of all time, and frame it in a nice white frame. These are $80 + shipping and take 2-4 weeks.
