Harlan Coben & Lawrence Kasdan to Pen Script for ‘Stay Close’ Film Adaptation

Thriller novelist Harlan Coben will team up with filmmaker Lawrence Kasdan to script and produce an adaptation of Coben’s soon-to-be published novel, Stay Close.

Kasdan will also direct this project. The book is slated for release on March 20th. According to Deadline, the script should be finished around the same time as the book’s publication date.

Here’s more from the release: “In Stay Close, a past crime returns to devastate the lives of a photojournalist, a suburban mother with a hidden past, and a homicide detective obsessed with a series of unsolveddisappearances. The Hitchcockian thriller plunges all three into a dark world of sex, secrets and shocking violence.”

A ThrillerFest panel last week tackled this question: “Can a thriller be both exciting and smart?” Participants included authors Linwood Barclay, Joseph Finder, Kathleen George, Andrew Gross, Andrew Pyper and Matt Richtel. David Liss moderated the panel.

During the discussion, the participants picked Dennis LeHane‘s Shutter Island, Joseph Conrad‘s Heart of Darkness, and William Landay‘s upcoming Defending Jacob as their favorite smart thrillers.

Ice-T & His Wife Land Book Deals for Debut Novels

Law & Order star and hip-hop legend Ice-T will publish Kings of Vice (written with Mal Radcliff) with Tom Doherty Associates’ Forge Books imprint in September.

This fall, the imprint will also publish Angel by Nicole ‘Coco‘ Marrow–an actress and Ice-T’s wife. Ice-T (pictured, via) has more than 83,100  followers on Twitter and is also working on a memoir.
