<title>CUNY To Launch Imprint Dedicated To Books About Journalism</title>
<description><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-59244" title="cunyjpress_final1" src="http://www.mediabistro.com/galleycat/files/2012/10/cunyjpress_final1-300x86.png" alt="" width="300" height="86" />The CUNY Graduate School of Journalism has partnered with OR Books <a href="http://www.journalism.cuny.edu/2012/10/15/introducing-cuny-journalism-press/" target="_blank">to launch a new imprint that will publish academic books about journalism</a>. The imprint will publish three-to five books a year beginning next year.</p>
<p>The imprint will publish <em>Distant Witness: Social Media, the Arab Spring and a Journalism Revolution</em> by <strong>Andy Carvin</strong>, senior strategist for social media at NPR; <em>Fighting for the Press: The Inside Story of the Pentagon Papers</em> by <strong>James Goodale</strong>, former chief Counsel at The New York Times; <em>Investigative Journalism in America: A History </em>by <strong>Steve Weinberg</strong>, a member of the University of Missouri Journalism School; and <em>The Pleasures of Being Out of Step: Nat Hentoff&#8217;s Life in Journalism, Jazz, and the First Amendment</em> by CUNY Journalism professor <strong>David L. Lewis</strong>.</p>
<p>CUNY Professor <strong>Jeff Jarvis</strong> helped to develop the publishing model for the press. <strong>Tim Harper</strong>, a visiting professor and writing teacher at CUNY, will serve as the imprint&#8217;s editor.</p>
