Jena Malone Joins Catching Fire Adaptation

Actress Jena Malone has been cast as Johanna Mason in The Hunger Games film sequel, Catching Fire. As of this writing, more than 27,000 fans have hit “like” for this post. What do you think?

Malone’s character is a former Hunger Games victor who hails from District 7 (Lumber). Johanna Mason rose to fame for pretending to appear as a weakling when in fact she was a skilled warrior; she became one of the youngest tributes to win the competition. At the time Catching Fire takes place, she is still in her early 20′s.

Here’s more from the release: “In 2011, Malone starred in Zack Snyder‘s Sucker Punch for Warner Bros. … Previously, Malone starred in Oren Moverman‘s The Messenger, Sean Penn‘s Into the Wild, Anthony Minghella‘s Cold Mountain, Brian Dannelly‘s Saved! and Joe Wright‘s Pride and Prejudice. Justice League Adaptation & Batman Reinvention Coming From Warner Brothers

Warner Brothers president Jeff Robinov revealed that there will be another series of Batman movies following the conclusion of Christopher Nolan‘s trilogy–along with a Justice League movie in 2013 featuring a team of DC superheroes (pictured, via).

Robinov told the Los Angeles Times: “We have the third Batman, but then we’ll have to reinvent Batman…Chris Nolan and [producing partner and wife] Emma Thomas will be producing it, so it will be a conversation with them about what the next phase is.”
