Spotted on the Variety website late Friday afternoon: The wrongful termination lawsuit Judith Regan brought against her former employers at Harper Collins, a division of News Corp., has been settled for an undisclosed sum. But the dollar amount, whatever it is, may not be as significant as this admission from News Corp. in its statement about the dispute’s resolution:

“After carefully considering the matter, we accept Ms. Regan’s position that she did not say anything that was anti-Semitic in nature, and further believe that Ms. Regan is not anti-Semitic.”

I hate to be the one to say I told you so, but I believe I might have told you so. Regan is quoted as well: “I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked with so many gifted people and am looking forward to my next venture.” Admit it: You are, too, even if it’s for no other reason than you miss having her around to scorn so you can feel better about yourself about not having published “those books.” (Of course, there was more to her than that.)
