The Daily Beast to Publish True Crime Book

beastbooks23.jpgThe second book from The Daily Beast‘s new publishing imprint will be a true crime book entitled Angel Face: The Real Story of Student Killer Amanda Knox. Inverting the traditional rules of publishing, the book will debut as an eBook on March 19 and a paperback on April 6–timed to coincide with Knox’s appeal of her murder conviction.

The book will be written by Rome-based Daily Beast contributor Barbie Latza Nadeau who has covered the highly publicized trial for Anderson Cooper 360, MSNBC, The Today Show, and The Daily Beast. Last year, an Italian court sentenced Knox to 26 years in prison for murdering Meredith Kercher.

The Daily Beast editor-in-chief Tina Brown had this statement: “The book will be the definitive account of the drug-fueled murder of Meredith Kercher and the media frenzy it inspired around the world. With Knox’s fate hanging on her upcoming appeal, Nadeau’s book will provide the first in-depth account of the events that led up to her arrest, and the life of the young girl from Seattle whose case has captivated the world.”

Last week, The Daily Beast launched the first title in its new publishing series.
