The Purloined Rejection Letters

House Without A Key.gifAcademy Chicago Publishers revealed that a bookkeeper went on an unauthorized book-rejecting spree, Poets & Writers reports.

The 30-year-old press recently published the Iranian memoir, In the House of My Bibi, and is reprinting books from the Charlie Chan detective series. The editors urged anyone rejected in the last three months to review their unhappy note.

If anyone received an impersonal form letter from Academy Chicago, they should contact the real editors at 363 West Erie Street, 7E, Chicago, IL 60610. Founding editor Jordan Miller couldn’t gauge the full extent of his bookkeeper’s strange behavior:

“She admitted to about ten … I assume close to thirty were sent but I have absolutely no way of knowing for sure.”
