They are so into talk shows

In a case of convergence, bandwagon-hopping or whatever you want to call it, it seems like the author-as-talk show-host is becoming a new trend. the Hollywood Reporter looks at a couple of upcoming offerings. One’s from Greg “He’s Not That Into You” Behrendt, which — surprise — will focus heavily on dating and relationship advice. That show is the first to come out of a new partnership between Sony Pictures Television and the Tribune Broadcasting Company.

Also moving to TV is psychologist Keith Ablow, who’s also reasonably well known for his borderline creepy thriller novels featuring forensic psychologist protag Frank Clevenger. The pitch for “Ablow” (which will be distributed by Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution and is slated for a Fall 2006 premiere date)is to focus “on helping individuals, couples and families deal with their conflicts and challenges, as well as developing life strategies in order to help them lead more productive lives.” “Ablow” is now sold in 47 of the top 50 markets and has a to-date clearance of more than 90 percent of the country.
