Vook Secures $2.5 million in Seed Financing

579843_vooklogo.jpgA team of investors have decided to support a new publishing venture–the multimedia eBook company Vook just landed $2.5 million in seed funding.

According to the release, investors include investor Ron Conway, Huffington Post chairman Kenneth Lerer, Maples Investments, Baseline Ventures and Founder Collective.

The company will use the influx of funding to “accelerate growth in all areas of its business and to support its plans for massive scale in 2010.” That push has already found some high-profile authors. Last week, GalleyCat reported that novelist Anne Rice will release her first Vook on March 1st, a digital version of her 1984 vampire story, “The Master of Rampling Gate.”

Here’s a statement from Conway, the founder of the Angel Investors LP: “Vook has an opportunity to become synonymous with a new form of media, which is something that doesn’t happen very often,” said Ron Conway, independent angel investor and advisor to the company. “Brad knows how to turn a big vision into a great business and it’s clear with Vook that he has an opportunity to shake things up in the world of publishing.”
