Watchmen Cast in Time for Comic-Con
Variety runs through the cast of Zack Snyder‘s Watchmen, the big-screen adaptation of the Alan Moore/Dave Gibbons graphic novel that mainstream book critics revere like a pop culture grail. Actors for the six lead roles in the superhero ensemble will be officially unveiled at the San Diego Comic-Con later this week, no doubt sparking all sorts of arguments. Personally, I can totally get behind Patrick Wilson (lower left) as Nite Owl, and I’m willing to take an imaginative leap with Oscar nominee Jackie Earle Haley as Rohrshach (far right, although the character is much more Swing Blade-era Billy Bob Thornton tempermentally, and if you had to go young, I’d put Rainn Wilson in there), but Billy Crudup as the near-omnipotent Dr. Manhattan? I’m not seeing it so much…
