Next Monday, the Readergirlz website will kick off "31 Flavorites," which takes the Young Adult Library Services Association's "Teen Read Week" as a starting point and then spreads out across the entire month of October, with a different YA author visiting the site each day.

The first participant, Meg Cabot, got involved with the project as soon as organizer Justina Chen Headley asked, having "met" her fellow author when Headley took part in a chat with a book club hosted on Cabot's message boards. "I thought it was cool Justina started her own online book club with some other authors, and I loved the idea of their teaming up with YALSA to celebrate Teen Read Week," Cabot emailed, "and I was delighted to be asked to be a part of it. I'm in some magnificent company, considering some of the great authors they've got stopping by." Those other names include Ann Brashares, Cecil Castellucci, E. Lockhart, and Holly Black, culminating in a Halloween appearance by teen vampire chronicler Stephenie Meyer.
