Job Requirements The role of this position is to design and develop market leading user interfaces. This department’s objective is to offers unparalleled mobility to the hospitality and retail industries with a breadth of solutions designed for the consumers.

The successful candidate must have drive, initiative, and commitment to customers. Success in the role means understanding market requirements, considering how a customer would want to use a feature, designing the user experience, and then developing high performance web/command line interfaces. This position is located at MICROS eCommerce office in Chevy Chase, MD and reports to the Development Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Works in a cross-functional team to develop websites and Internet applications.
Performs various coding and programming tasks, such as design or development of web front-end, back-end Web-based applications, and Web/Internet services.
Stay abreast of latest user interface and interaction design trends
May involve coding and integration of text, graphics, sound, and/or video.
Contributes to the design and usability of websites and Web-based applications throughout conceptualization, development, and implementation process.
Performs heuristic reviews and tasks and work flow analyses.
Assists in usability testing of all Web user interfaces.
Develops user scenarios, task models and conceptual and formal Web site prototypes.
Provides documentation to help maintain Web design and usability integrity.
Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or other related degree and a minimum of 2 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Deep knowledge of information architecture, interaction flow, user interface and visual design.
A solid understanding of web design principles and best use of current web technologies and scalable dynamic interfaces.
Proficient web development skills using XHTML, Javascript, DHTML/DOM and CSS.
Strong knowledge of industry visual design tools including AJAX and Photoshop/Image Ready
Familiarity with MVC framework and Object Oriented concepts or server side programming is a plus (preferably ASP.net).
Experience with jQuery or similar library; debugging tools such as Firebug, IE Developer Toolbar or similar is preferred
Experience with Flash/Flex (ActionScript 3.0, Flex 4), version control systems, and XSL is a plus.
Strong knowledge of methodology, tools, standards and procedures.
Excellent technical/analytical skills and/or strong programming and design skills.
Strong organizational and problem solving abilities.
Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing.
