Job Requirements The New School's Communications and External Affairs department is in search of an energetic, collaborative and creative Senior Press Officer. The Senior Press Officer promotes the university's innovative academic, professional and institutional profile both externally and within the university community. The role will have a specific focus on art and design programs with potential to expand to oversight of performing arts.

Ideal candidates will be exceptional writers with experience in public affairs, higher education, and the arts, knowledge of traditional and digital media including emerging social media platforms, the capacity to meet the demands of a pivotal role in a large, urban institution, and energy to match the university's spirit of constant change. The Senior Press Officer will report to the Director of Communications.


5 to 7 years experience demonstrating progressive responsibility in media relations, content creation, and/or journalism.

BA or BS preferably in journalism, English or other humanities degree.

Flawless editing and outstanding written and spoken communication.

Demonstrated track record of high-profile media hits.

Creativity and a collaborative approach to working – open to inspiration and feedback from any and all voices.
