National Journal is seeking a highly imaginative, digitally savvy, experienced design leader to join its small but fast-paced marketing team. He/she will play an integral role in developing and executing marketing strategies targeting National Journal’s members, subscribers, online audience, and advertisers. This position reports to the director of marketing.
Branding responsibilities include:
-Development of, and adherence to, style guides for multiple complementary products.
-Major annual deliverables, such as digital and printed media kits.
Digital responsibilities include:
-Custom ad design (including pre-execution mock-ups)
-Templates for promotional emails
-Regular additions and improvements to marketing pages and sites.
Sales support responsibilities include:
-Client-facing presentations highlighting new products
-Custom proposals for National Journal’s largest clients
-Presentation templates for use by sales teams
Characteristics of the ideal candidate:
-A passionate creator with a sophisticated aesthetic and deep knowledge of the media industry.
-Five-plus years of experience in relevant fields of design.
-Proven expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, HTML, CSS, Flash, After Effects, and WordPress.
-Proficiency with UX design, including the development of interactive online ad units.
-A solid communicator comfortable with brainstorming and presenting to internal clients.
-Ability to manage junior design staff and/or freelance designers.
-Ability to prepare print-ready files preferred.
