Job Requirements College graduate with minimum 1 year book publicity or related experience. Candidate must be creative and have an enthusiastic and energetic approach to mining publicity opportunities. A familiarity with key print and electronic book contacts is required. Must be at ease with pitching to media, dealing with authors, and juggling several projects at once. Excellent writing skills required.

Associate Publicist will be responsible for creating and executing publicity campaigns for all assignments including books, online products, and journals. The Associate Publicist will be in direct contact with authors and media on a regular basis and will be required to learn and use all OUP systems as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Manage publicity campaigns for assigned books, online products, and journals including the creation of press materials, media lists, and supplementary materials for use on the OUPblog, etc.
• Pitch media across print, broadcast and online for appropriate opportunities
• Provide regular updates to author/in-house staff, handle author inquiries, respond to media/event venues inquiries, etc.
• Videotape/record and edit video and audio content and generate other social media content as needed (slideshows, listicles, quizzes, etc.)
• Maintain and expand Publicity Assistant Database with media contacts regularly
• Solicit and assist in the editing of excerpt, op-ed, and other bylined piece opportunities.
• Cultivate personal contacts at major media.
• Create publicity campaign plans.
• Respond to news events with author/book pitches as needed.
• Knowledge of PA2000, Vocus, Netgalley, Wordpress, etc. and ability to think creatively about how to use systems to increase media potential
