Job Requirements Do you live for LIVE when it comes to news? PIX11 News is looking for a broadcast professional to coordinate all live remotes during daily newscasts, overseeing and supervising a team within the News department.

This is not a position for beginners.You report to the News Operations Manager and will help define field operational requirements related to the production of a live newscast, solve problems in a fast-paced environment, work well under pressure and be a team player.

You know how to look at transmissions, and you oversee quality control all remotes and feeds coming into the building with an expert eye. You can anticipate, analyze, and troubleshoot technical faults on the fly, ensuring operations run smoothly on the air and behind the scenes.

As our key tech ops person on the floor, you are in charge of Media Management of the News Video Server (TONS) and you make sure everyone in the field has access to the necessary portable media in and outside the newsroom. Your knowledge of all things digital is crucial since many of our most important news stories are carried online and through mobile devices.

This is a demanding position with many diverse tasks and responsibilities, requiring you to do multiple urgent things simultaneously and constantly adjusting priorities all while keeping error-free newscasts on the air. You must be able to deal with unusual situations and take responsive action.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee transmissions, perform quality control assessments of the transmissions
• Manage and supervise news and tech operations staff on shift
• Implement a process to ensure all equipment is in good working order and secured after use.
• Understand the digital side of transmissions and delivery.
• Anticipate bottleneck issues and workflow problems and proactively plan workarounds.
• Troubleshoot technical faults and distribute discrepancy reports, following up as needed
• Assist in budget forecasting for quick turnaround special events.

REQUIREMENTS:
• College degree
• 5 years of experience in Broadcast News television operations, 2-3 in a management position.
• Working knowledge of News automation systems, digital and analog systems, video servers, Electronic News Gathering (ENG) operations, specifically satellite, microwave, fiber and cellular systems.
• Well-balanced and comprehensive understanding of a daily News operation of a television station. Advanced PC Skills, working knowledge of current Windows and Mac operation systems.
• Experience with Final Cut Pro or other nonlinear editing platforms. Extensive PC skills, both software and hardware.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Acute attention to detail and team oriented.
