Job Requirements Channel One News, a 10-minute daily news show seen by millions of students, is seeking a skilled, deadline-driven Avid editor to work on higher profile stories and multi-part series, who is an adept story-teller and comfortable working independently. The job is full-time benefited, non-union in New York City.

Responsibilities include:
• Cut news and magazine style packages for air
• Ingest and organize media
• Meet daily delivery deadlines
• Mentor junior editors

Qualifications:
• Expertise in Avid Media Composer/Symphony– at least 5 years’ experience as an Avid editor
• Strong story-telling skills
• Ability to operate independently, make editorial decisions, work without close oversight of a producer
• Comfortable editing with music to support stories
• Proficiency in After Effects and Photoshop
• Attention to detail is a MUST and the skills to operate with consistent accuracy
• Experience in a news or daily production environment a must, daily deadlines will be given and expected to be met
• Excellent organization skills and ability to work in fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of codecs and encoding software, i.e. Adobe Encoder, Sorenson Squeeze
• Flexibility with hours is essential – this is a Sunday through Thursday work-week, and shift length can be effected by breaking news events
