A GQ Rant
Jessa Crispin of Bookslut takes GQ to task for Walter Kirn’s “The Forbidden Word.” She’s pretty cruel, too, saying, “Your design is even hard on the eyes. You don’t have much going for you these days other than the half naked girl on the cover, and even she is a bimbo.” Why Jessa, that’s just totally wrong, that’s just…oh. Never mind.
But seriously, I can’t resist weighing on in this quote from the article:
The utter shame of having been born male was being reinforced daily in my classes, which, no matter what their subject was — but especially if it was literature or art — seemed devoted to reminding me that my sex had long run roughshod over the world and would presently face some frightening reckoning.
Because as a woman, I just want to apologize for being so mean to you men over the centuries. How about we allow you guys to take care of the White House and Vatican for us while we go get our nails done? That should heal your wounds.
