You can alter your resume to make it as flattering as possible without being called a damned liar, as I have been on so many occasions. BusinessWeek has some tips on using poetic license to market your talents when preparing your resume and cover letter without being resorting to untruths. However, if you do find yourself caught in a hilarious lie, just remember how many digits are in a Social Security number, because they will nail you on that every time.
