Publish That Book!
Writing a nonfiction book is a powerful experience. It can help to open up new avenues of exploration in your life. As it is a long-term project, becoming an author provides a venue for your passion and legitimately gives you the time to follow it through in more detail and with an editor who cares about the end result. Writing a book also gives you a better platform, establishes you as an "expert" in your topic, and provides great satisfaction when your readers admire and connect with you personally such as at booksignings, through the Internet email system or by buying your book through your own website. Andrea does say: - I think a writer of nonfiction work should be prolific. - I think a writer of nonfiction books should have a passion about what they are proposing. - I think a writer of nonfiction books should continue to learn and analyze the publishing industry and its peccadilloes. - I think a nonfiction writer should strive to perfect their craft. - I think the nonfiction writer should become an "expert." - I think a nonfiction writer should be studying their market all the time. - I believe it is easier to get published in nonfiction than with fiction. - I believe editors actually get more excited about nonfiction titles. - I believe there will always be a need for well-crafted, informative nonfiction books. - I believe that anyone can craft a nonfiction book -but only if they know what they are doing.
