“ProfNet? Useful or waste of money?
“I just seem to be hitting a wall with trying to break into journalism here. Newspapers say I don’t have newspaper experience (even though I have newswire experience). Magazines don’t have much reporting or staff writer positions open anymore. Plus, bureaus overseas have closed down.” Any help for this soul?
“Has anyone had any experience pitching to Complete Woman? Or For Me? Could you tell me some info about their turn-around time or who best to pitch for health/travel/ relationship pieces?”
“Aside from hanging out in bars, how can one go out in the daytime and ‘look for’ a story…?”
“Although I like what I do and who I work with, I have come to the realization that my job is making me absolutely miserable. The long hours, heavy workloads, intense deadlines and low pay are making me crazy. I’m thinking career change, but don’t want to go back to school. Any advice on other fields where the skills of an editor/write translate well? Has anyone personally made this switch?
