Where the !#%* is my PHP?
Misconception: Personal Home Pages are searchable by employers who can contact me if they like what they see. Truth: Although Freelance Marketplace member profiles are searchable by employers on our site, Personal Home Pages are not. The PHP does however include a URL (like www.mediabistro.com/yourname), which can be included in your resume, blog, business card, t-shirt, etc. Misconception: My personal Home page is accessible via my URL as soon as I'm done creating it. Truth: By default, personal Home Pages are set to "hidden." That means if you or someone you give your personal page URL to tries to access the page while it's hidden, they'll get one of those annoying "page not found" errors. Like any creative masterpiece, you don't want to show your page off until it's ready for the masses, hence the hidden status. To make your page public, click on the access settings link on your personal home page preferences. Two mysteries solved. Millions more to come. |
