Joanna Pearlstein, Wired magazine's research editor, manages the fact-checking department and edits the Infoporn section. We love Infoporn!
If you want to become a master of factology, Joanna can show you how in her upcoming seminars in San Francisco. Here's a little more from her:
Q. What do you get out of teaching?
A. There's no way to answer this without sounding like a Pollyanna, but: I enjoy helping people think about journalism in new and different ways.
Q. How would you characterize your classroom? What's the vibe?
A. Casual, and student participation is a must! My classes are much better when students arrive with specific questions in mind. It helps when someone has a specific problem they're trying to solve, and then we can try to tackle it as a class.
Q. What have you learned from your students that you didn't expect to?
A. It's amazing how diverse people's interests are. Even though I work at a general interest magazine, I am still surprised at the wide range of things students are trying to research.
