Exploring Satire with Shrek

shrekgame.jpgNothing is funnier than explaining why something is funny. However, since I recently taught a brief lecture on humor writing, this lesson plan on the use of satire in “Shrek” could be of use to humor writers, teachers or those who just like to dissect the hell out of things. I was taught though that the difference between “satire” and “parody” is that satire is more of a cultural criticism, used to call out something that’s wrong with society, so is Shrek parody? Or maybe is Shrek just what’s wrong with society? Discuss.
