Mediabistro: What kinds of books to do you work on/are you looking for? Conversely, what kinds of books don’t you want to see at all?
Weber: I really like dark mysteries. The darker the better. We’ve always been a traditionally darker imprint, although we do publish straight across the criminal spectrum. But I am now starting to look for lighter mysteries as well. We published our first chick lit mystery, See Isabelle Run by Elizabeth Bloom, to a great response last year. But I tend to stay away from international thrillers, especially any focusing on Iraq or 9/11. Personally, that is too much fact for my fiction.
