Ask Metafilter Writing Roundup

So I've tried a few apps that allow me to take large chunks of text and import them to my iPod, making an "eBook" of sorts. The first thing I tested it with was the Mcsweeney's big old page of funny food reviews, and I liked it...So what else do I load? Any recommendations for good, light reading?
How Do you 'Make' a Story Timely?
Are there any great online tools for working on writing a novel? I've seen previous posts on desktop software for this purpose, but I haven't found any nifty online tools.
I'm thinking about building an online networking site for journalists seeking quotes from people in remote places, but want to make sure such a thing doesn't already exist.
