Bulletin Board Blab 2.24.06Here are the tips and topics being discussed on the boards today... Would it be unprofessional of me to cold-call another writer and ask for their sources? Kinda... "I've not been in the position to be counteroffered before now, and while I know it's not a sure thing, I'd like to be prepared to make the best choice if it does indeed happen. I'd be grateful to hear what's considered standard protocol, good form, bad form, etc." "I'm a freelance writer, and I need to better understand what the job duties of a PR/Media rep really are." "I am an editor at a big publishing company and I've been here for five weeks now. This is my first real job (in the writing/editing field) after grad school and I am concerned. There is nothing for me to do!" I'm being offered a job but with a 'try out' period. Is this common? |
