Bulletin Board Blab 5.6.05
This is a question I have always wondered about: when, during the interview process, do you let your potential employers know that you don't get out of bed for less than $10,000 a day? Is it possible to telecommute when it comes to editing or is this nonexistent, and why? Is it cool to ask an editor for more money when they're asking you to travel across the country to cover a story? Uh, yeah. There's a time when writing on the cheap is necessary and other times when it can eat you alive. You don't want to be in the hole! I discussed this earlier, that it's difficult to know 'what to ask for,' whether you're editing or ghostwriting. Ask other people who have done it. How to get in at Vogue? Don't wear Betsey Johnson, don't be from PETA. If you're looking to kill some time: do you like freelancing? Do you really, really like it? Also: writers discuss their first big break. Although for the sake of argument I think there is one's first break, and then the breaks just keep getting bigger and bigger, hopefully, anyway. |
