Quotable QuotesOn Fridays, I like to review all of my projects and my calendar for the next week, following the advice of David Allen in his book, Getting Things Done. Allen recommends taking two hours a week to do a high level review of your life and your work; I'm lucky if I get fifteen minutes, but that fifteen minutes is crucial to my sanity. After I generate my to-do lists, I append an inspirational quote to get me through the next week. Other people like to use inspirational quotes to kick off essays or articles. It's not surprising that the interbunny is chock-full of pithy sayings; you can find your own inspiration from Bartleby, Hearts and Minds , and Good Quotes, among thousands of other places. For the next week, my text comes from "Racing in the Street", a Bruce Springsteen song: "Some guys they just give up living, And start dying little by little, piece by piece; Some guys come home from work and wash up, And go racin' in the street." Because it's summer, Claire will soon be back from vacation, and I have a boy who wants us to ride bikes to Dairy Queen. Thanks for a great week, everyone! |
