Get an Offer

When I think of Neil Gaiman, I think of the writer who the New York Times Magazine reported on crafting some very interesting The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe fan fiction. Even though it was from nearly a year ago, I found a very helpful post on his blog titled “Everything you wanted to know about literary agents…” The post confirmed pretty much what I thought about agents when his agent Teresa Nielsen Hayden wrote “If you’re writing fiction, the True Secret Answer is “get an offer.” If you’ve got an offer, you can get an agent. If you don’t have an offer, you don’t want the kind of agent you’re likely to get.”
