How to Pitch: Bust

bustt.jpgBust positions itself as the women’s magazine for women who hate women’s magazines. As Erin Schulte writes, “Bust is a magazine that is not about feminism, but is informed by it….Features are female-oriented, but in a way that challenges stereotypes about women and ignores assumptions. For instance, after Sept. 11, Bust ran a long feature about female terrorists.” Good news: about 3/4s of the magazine is freelance-written. Really, make sure you know the magazine though. Really.
Pitch “Broadcast,” “Look,” “Real Life” and “Phat Camp” amongst others via email. And let your voice shine.
For those interested, by the way, here is an interview with Bust columnist Wendy McClure.
