How to Pitch: Oxford American
Today Greg Bloom talks to Marc Smirnoff, Editor-in-Chief of the Oxford American, back again to showcase fine writing that “shines a lamp south of the Mason-Dixon line.” It’s not hard to find the front of the book, which is titled “Front.” Writers can break in there with snappily-written items for “Site Seeing,” “Odd Jobs” or “Just Cause.” Do not stereotype Southerners, don’t pitch celebrity coverage and the columns “For Sale,” “Calendar,” and “Now Showing” are mostly in-house.
