How to Pitch: Mad

madmag.jpgMAD is the latest magazine to have its How to Pitch updated, only this time around they did it themselves. The good news: freelancers do a lot of work for the humor mag. What to pitch: image-driven stuff, timeless humor pieces, comic strips and video game-based material. No Top 10 lists, no straight spoofs. As with all publications you're pitching to, get to know the magazine first. "Your pitch should summarize your premise in a brief opening paragraph. Follow that with a logical comedic extension of the initial gag, complete with a few examples, and provide art notes for each -- it's OK to use stick figures. Provide some biographical information, especially if you happen to be a sitcom writer, but it's not very important to the editors." More details here.
