How to Pitch: The Wall Street Journal Online

wsjonline.jpg

WSJ.com is branching out to become its own identity, and it's looking for freelancers. Most stories need to have some business or financial angle, per the Wall Street Journal, but can have a slightly younger slant, reports Keith Hernandez. (Note: Keith spoke with managing editor Jason Fry. I worked with Jason this fall on an essay about my beloved Chicago White Sox, so I can say from experience you're lucky if you get to work with him.) "Online Exclusives" and "Go Figure" are some good places to break in. Just don't pitch things the Journal already covers. Email pitches.
