HR Q’s: Ziff Davis Media

If you’re hoping to get a gig with Ziff-Davis Media, the company that publishes such magazines as The Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine, Jill Singer speaks with HR manager Amy Baum on what it takes to get in the door. I spoke with a writer friend of mine who worked for Ziff-Davis until around 2002, who had this to say about them: “It’s a great environment, overall. But it’s a sought-after magazine job, and ZD knows it. Don’t expect to be earning the big dollars unless you’re in an EIC position. Underlings are generally considered replaceable, so the pay scale doesn’t favor them.”
