A few days ago I posted some reader feedback on utilizing your Ipod with Griffin iTalk for your interviewing needs. However, as the reader advised, the attachment still needs a phone attachment. Another reader agrees:

Recently, my iPod froze when I was trying to record an interview recently. I believe it was caused by the Radio Shack phone controller gadget I tried to attach to it. The Griffin iTalk attachment works fine by itself for recording in-person conversations, but when I plug the phone controller into the microphone jack on top of the iTalk--lock, freeze, crash. Bad news. Luckily my iPod could start up again after a battery recharge, and my music was intact.

I am sure this happened because the phone controller is meant specifically for old-fashioned tape recorders. It even has a second line (that I didn't connect to the iPod) that is supposed to start and stop your tape when you pick up or cradle the phone. So buyer beware, until Griffin makes a dedicated iPodTalkPhoneRecorder attachment, your best bet is recording a speakerphone conversation.

See, I knew there had to be something wrong with that Ipod. If anybody has any other tips or bright ideas on how to make it record phone conversations, please weigh in.
