Clear Out
I already mentioned Remote Desktop, which lets you work between two desktops: your home office's and your office-office's. Need to clear your Google search history? Lifehacker linked to a Google Tutor and Advisor, which can get rid of your searches for whatever it is you're looking for that's not work-related. Or, if you need to clear your cookies and cache from Internet explorer, here's how. If you're using a Mac, Safari offers "Porn Mode," where you can browse privately, check bank statements or personal email and yes, if you need to, look at the skin pix without leaving a trail. Blogging isn't really freelancing--uh, wait a minute, for some of us, it is--so if you need to blog on the job, Lifehacker also has some posts on blogging anonymously. And basically, while there is no such thing as safe emailing and it's up to your employer how hard they come down on you checking your private email account, at leat make the minimum effort and do set up a private email account for all things non-work-related. |
