About Freelance Writing offers a very brief description of the Society of Professional Journalists, if you’ve been wondering which associations and organizations you ought to join as a writer. I was a member, briefly, and while I certainly didn’t take full advantage of everything it had to offer, I would say that it struck me more as being beneficial for journalists and reporters than your average freelancer or part-time writer.
