Read All About It!
This article is actually about writing headlines for the Internet (and raising one's Googleability) and it actually says "Writing great headlines for the Web has nothing to do with writing great articles in newspapers or magazines," but I think there are still a few lessons to be learned. Jennifer 8. Lee talks to some of her best headline-writing colleagues at the New York Times about how they do it. Dos and don'ts for headlines, i.e., don't be cute. Also via NoTrain-Nogain, the more detailed, outline version. If you want it boiled down to a Top 10 list, here you go. If you're too lazy to think, you can buy an instant headline creator. Not endorsed by this blog, by the way. |
