Killing It Softly

Sandra McGarrity at Absolute Write mourns terribly the adverb. And I also will sadly miss it. When do we actually get to correctly use these things, anyway? And why did I smugly accumulate so many synonyms for “laugh” or “smile” when the only choice is “said”? The adverb is dead, long live the adverb, I say bitterly.
