I requested input last week on whether PitchFest is worth one's time, and in response to the cautionary feedback that I posted, I did receive a positive note from an anonymous reader, so for those of you thinking about going:

About the Great American Pitchfest, I have attended one of the Canadian events. I'm certainly attending the LA event. It's not a grand, frenzied writing affair. It's more like an educational, eye opening, networking event which includes opportunities to pitch material to the big guys. The odds are, that if you don't attend an event like this, you'll never know exactly what your chances are. Anyone with an idea ready to pitch, should attend a pitch fest.

On the other hand, I received additional feedback from a writer down under:

I just got a note in my Inbox about a local "Pitching workshop" in a couple of weeks.

However, unlike those nasty 'cattle calls' that the USA is prone too, this doesn't promise anything but the chance for writers to 'practise and hone' their pitching skills.

And the cost? Totally free. Compare that to PitchFest's $350 entry fee.

Living in Australia has advantages.
