Print, Please

Editors may want to hear article pitches via email, but they don't necessarily want to read your clips that way. I asked a couple:

"I prefer pitches by email but then clips in snail mail--I like to read longer pieces in hard copy and then file them," says one editor I spoke with.

"I hate email links-send me snail mail," says another. "Then I don't have to print it all out, which I rarely do. Plus, it shows the person is willing to put a little thought into it and has some interest. That said, editors with their own printers probably don't feel the same."

So even if you have scanned lovely links to your articles, it still pays off to invest in a little bit of time with Sweet Lady Kinkos. Your editors will appreciate it.
