Some Things in Life Are Free

One of them, namely, being finding a literary agent. Sure, you may have to spend some money copying your manuscript and sending it off but no reputable agency charges to read your manuscript. Absolute Write has some horror stories from people dealing with the Stylus Literary Agency, who not only want money to read your work but bullies you should you question this tactic:

We haven’t always charged an administrative fee after an author is accepted, and now we do. Why? We charge $129 AFTER ACCEPTANCE and this is deductible from our commissions should we sell your work. This SEPARATES the men from the boys, and the housewives from the serious authors (my apologies in advance for any professional housewives who take offense, but you know what I mean).
