The New Toy: The Final Evaluation

Last week I conducted the interview that I needed to buy the digital recorder for, and I have to say the DS-2 passed with flying colors. The only requirement really was that it wouldn’t stop recording unexpectedly, so fortunately, it didn’t do that. Prior to the call, I went to Radio Shack and bought smart phone recorder control, so I was able to use a cordless phone for the interview. I tested it beforehand of course and everything was working fine.
On playback, the recording was clear–even better when I used headphones. I really liked the ‘index’ function that I used, so that I could mark the spots along the recording I could return to if I lost my place–there were only 16 indexes available, but you can easily erase the old ones. It was easy to upload the recording to my computer with the docking station and I liked how the indexes were marked with a handy red arrow when I was dealing with the WAV file.
My only beef was that it would have been useful for the manual to include specific instructions on how to use the recorder for phone interviews, but obviously, I figured it out OK.
So thanks to everyone for the recommendation of the DS-2. I liked it, and maybe you will too.
Oh, want to see the interview? It’s with gossip queen Perez Hilton, and it’s here.
